Mary has yet to start her 20-page English Essay on Tuesday. Also, Mary is terribly concerned she is not going to have enough time to study for her two finals on Thursday since she currently has C’s in both Chemistry and Calculus and needs to do well on the respective finals. What should Mary do? [A] Mary’s friend Jenny told her she once pulled an “all-nighter” for a final exam and aced the exam. Mary should follow her friend Jenny’s advice and pull an “all-nighter” on Wednesday night cramming for both Calculus and Chemistry.
[B] Mary should prioritize each day’s activities and study for both her Calculus and Chemistry finals each day of the week. In addition, Mary should study on the bus to and from track meet in order to make effective use of the travel time.
[C]Mary should skip her away track meet and focus solely on her academic commitments as academics are far more important than athletics.
Scenario 1 John and Mary have been dating for 6-months. John recently dumped Mary for the new girl in school right before the Homecoming dance. Mary is furious at John for not only dumping her, but leaving her dateless for the Homecoming dance. What should Mary do? Scenario 2 [A]Terrorize Adam with numerous text messages and spread nastyrumors about him all over school.
[B]Eat ½ gallon of of Ben & Jerry’s mint chocolate chip ice cream each night after school because it makes her feel better and after all it is her favorite.
[C]Turn to her support network for guidance and help consisting of friends, family, teachers, counselors, coaches, etc.
Scenario 3
[A] Tom should skip class so he doesn't have to deliver the presentation.
[B] Tom should talk to the teacher prior to class about his anxiety. In addition, Tom should utilize visualization and progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) techniques he learned in Health Class to ease his anxiety prior to the speech.
[C] Tom should crack jokes at the beginning of his speech to invoke laughter from his audience and divert the attention from his anxiety
Serena's father was recently laid off from his job as a banker. In order to assist with the family bills during her father's period of unemployment, Serena started an after-school job as the local Target retail store. Not only does Serena have to work at Target after school, she also has a mandatory chorus concert she must attend this evening. Moreover, Serena has an Algebra test tomorrow which she has yet to study for. Serena's grades have slipped since she started her new job and she is fearful that if she doesn't study for her Algebra test she may flunk the test. What should Serena do?
[A] Serena should study for her Algebra exam during her breaks at Target. After she completes her shift at Target, Serena should stop home for a quick power nap, grab a granola bar, yogurt, and apple juice for a snack, and head to her Chorus concert. Immediately following the Chorus concert, Serena should go home to finish studyingfor her Algebra test and ensure she gets a sufficient amount of sleep prior to the exam.
[B] Serena should skip her Chorus concert. Her Chorus members will understand academics come before extra-curricular activities. It's not as if Serena has a solo in the conert or anything. After leaving her job at Target, Serena should grab a cup of her favorite coffee from Starbucks to help her stay awake for a long night of studying.
[C] Serena should drink Mountain Dew during her breaks at work to help her stay awake. Then, Serena should go to her Chorus concert. After the Chorus concert, Serena should grab a 5-hour energy drink and a Butterfinger candy bar because the caffeine will help her stay alert during her Algebra study session tonight.
