Transcript of Layers of the Earth

The Layers of Earth
The 4 Layers of the Earth
What happened?
The leaks from the mantle are called...
Outer Core
Inner Core
The top layer
All that we can see and what we live on
Made up of chunks of crust (called plates) that overlap to cover the entire planet.
The movement of plates create mountains, oceans, lakes, plains, hills, beaches
The thickest layer of the earth (84% of the Earth's mass)
Temperature ranges from 500 degrees Celsius at the crust to 4,000 degrees near the outer core.
The mantle moves and can cause pressure underneath the crust
This pressure can sometimes cause the mantle to leak out onto the surface of the Earth
What are these
leaks called???
About 35% of the Earth's mass
Temperatures of 4440 -6100 degrees Celsius
It is liquid and is mostly iron and nickel
These liquid metals are thought to influence the Earth's magnetic field
Made up of the same metals as the outer core but solid
