Transcript of Evolution of gaming Presentation

Space Invaders is an arcade video game developed by Tomohiro Nishikado and released in 1978.
The game was generally played on machines which could be found in arcades or local food/drink bars.
As there was a scoring system behind the game, consumers started to become more competitive
This lead onto competitions being held around the world in the early 80's and even up until recent dates.
Gaming wasn't just becoming a hobby,
it was a part of culture.
This continued onto Pac-Man which was also an scoring and leveling up based game.
Pong was played on the popular Atari game systems during the mid 70's
Pong, the first ever game developed by Atari in 1972 it was one of the earliest arcade video games; it is a tennis sports game featuring simple two-dimensional graphics.

Evolution of gaming
The scoring and leveling up of Pac-Man meant it became a far lot more competitive, therefore becoming more addictive.
PAC-Man had sold 400,000 cabinet units world wide in 2 years.
At this point it was evident that the gaming community was growing rapidly.

Only question was......
What next?.....
History of gaming
The early 1990's, where Sonic the Hedgehog video game was released on Sega game systems worldwide.

This game was revolutionary as it was one of many to have an adventure and story line behind it.

This added endless more hours of entertainment.

However there were many games like this
also released at similar times.
Such as....
Mario World (1990)
Crash Bandicoot (1996)
However what else could game developers possibly do to enhance gaming during the mid 90's & early 2000's?
3D gaming
Yes, by 1998, The legend of Legend: Ocarina of time
revolutionized the face of gaming, as 3D Third person graphics were implemented.
And this was seen in many other games.
Although this has informed you on where gaming began and how it progressed.
There are many many more games which I could not have possibly covered.
So here is a brief video which the take you through the history of gaming
How has gaming changed popular culture
Well, since the early ages of gaming,
it tended to be just a hobby.
However, with the likes of Social networking being current in the 21st century, it is possible to earn revenue of gaming.
So not only is gaming a hobby.....
It can become a full time career!
