The British Crown Why did the British need to confine their colonists to the Atlantic Seaboard? The British wanted to put a stop to conflicts that had arisen between the Native Americans and the colonists due to the French and Indian War. Why did the British favor the Indians over the colonists? Did the British demonstrate concern and respect for the colonists? Why or Why not? The British didn't show concern and respect for the colonists. Many colonists had purchased land or had been given land grants in that area in exchange for their military service during the war but the British ignored that and didn't let them in the lands. The British seemed to favor the indians over the colonists due to them wanting to keep peace with the Indians.
