The Progressive
Many of the major Progressive era reforms were enacted at the federal level by Congress, under the leadership of U.S. presidents Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson (pictured circa 1920).

Era refers to a period of varied reforms that took place throughout the United States over the first two decades of the twentieth century. While much of that change was enacted by the U.S. Congress under the leadership of three consecutive presidents—Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson, it was also a movement that generated a variety of changes at the state and local levels as well.

What was the Progressive Movement?
The Progressive movement was a period of social activism and political reform in the United States that flourished from the 1890s to the 1920s.

When was the Progressive Movement?
The progressive movement was initiated between the 1901-1917.

They did a lot to clean up state and local governments.
They did this by having Senators be elected by the people.

They also managed to get more control of the national government.

What were the four goals of Progressive Movement?

- Fostering efficiency
-Moral improvement
-Economic reform
- Protecting social welfare
