Transcript of Lindsey Stirling
Born in Santa Ana, California, Lindsey has spent most of her life in Gilbert, Arizona, a Morman community. She soon graduated from Mesquite High School and moved to Provo, Utah to study at their university about Recreational Therapy. She then went on to perform missionary work, for she was and still is a Mormon, at New York City at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Returning home to Provo in 2009, she continued to study at Brigham Young University until 2012. Moving back to Arizona, she stayed there for a few months until she moved
to Los Angeles, California, where she lives currently.
What Happened After That? (Tours and such)
At the age of five, after being influenced by the classical music records played by her father, Stirling began to study the violin. She took private lessons for twelve years. When she was sixteen, she joined a rock band in Mesquite High School with four friends called "Stomp on Melvin". As part of her experience, she wrote a solo violin rock song, and her performance helped her to win the state title of Arizona's Junior Miss and claim the Spirit Award in the America's Junior Miss Finals competition. Stirling was also a member of Charley Jenkins Band for about a year. However, the rigors of classical music training stifled her, and she nearly chose to pursue a career in therapy (which she did do later on). But the violin would not let go, and it became a comfort throughout her struggle with an eating disorder in early adulthood. Around 2010 when she joined
America's Got Talent
as a hip-hop violinist. Displaying her uniqueness of playing and dancing the violin at the same time, she was classified as "Electrifying" by the judges and won the audience. However, once she stepped up the game in the quarter finals, she was told by Piers Morgan, surprisingly in fact, that there was no room in the world for a dancing dub-step violinist. "You're not untalented, but you're not good enough to get away with flying through the air and trying to play the violin at the same time." Even Sharon Osbourne jumped in. "You need to be in a group. What you are doing is not enough to fill a theatre in Vegas." But
being voted off and the rejection didn't stop her though; it only made her stronger.

Influences on the People
In her spare time, Lindsey is a motivational speaker. She tells her own story, about her anorexia problem at early adulthood, to other teens. She feels the need to tell them that they should have confidence to do what makes them unique. Also, in 2013, she was featured by the LDS Church, "I am a Morman," where she openly talked about her faith and how it helped her through her anorexic time (through high school and college.
The Dance Moves?
Ever since she was young, Lindsey was fascinated at dance. However, her parents made her decide--it was either dance or violin. So, she chose the violin, but it always still was on the back of her mind. Even on America's Got Talent, not only did she impress everyone with the violin, but also the way she incorporated the dance in to it. In a livestream, she even admitted, "It is very unnatural to dance while playing the violin. I had to practice so hard to learn how to do it but now it is part of my expression and it comes naturally. I have to know a song perfectly before I can even begin to move. Once I know a song really well I can then have fun dancing...I loved dance music so I started with that and wrote Transcendence, Electric Daisy and Spontaneous Me." Dancing made a huge impact on both her music and performances. She even announced that she would compete on part of season three in Dance Showdown, where the winner get $50 000. Even though she didn't win, she was in the final three, due to the critizism on her and her partner, Anze Skrube. Laurienne Gibson, one of the three judges, said that their second performance was "one of the best" in the show and the last one as, "The best she had ever seen."
The list back had said her collaborations and there were a few missing out. For her recent album, Shatter Me, she decided to put full lyrics on two of her songs. On Shatter Me, Lzzy Hale did the vocals, and we found out that it was about Stirling's eating disorder. The second song was vocalized by Dia Frampton and we have not known what it is about...yet. Also, when she signed to The Atom Factory, she covered many songs, including Daylight and Thrift Shop with Tyler Ward (for both) and Chester See (For Daylight and other songs on her YouTube channel.) Those are the ones I have known, she feel free to search it up on her--or the other two's channel. She had also done a collab with Owl City, for one of his EP's, Beautiful Times which so far has received good comments about it.
The Amazing Dub-Step Violinist
How It Ever Came
To Violin & Her Appearance on America's Got Talent
**Does not include EPs
"The same reasons I was told I wouldn’t succeed are the reasons people travel hundreds of miles to see me now..It's different, it's something no one has ever seen before.”
Lindsey as a child
“We give more liberties to other people than we do to ourselves. We put labels on ourselves, but we love seeing people who just don’t care about what others think. The challenge is to love yourself for who you are, be your best self, and to encourage others to do the same.”
After the show, Lindsey had confided in a blog post."I was devastated at the results. It was painful, and a bit humiliating; however, I had to relearn where it was that I drew my strength." It was her experience with America’s Got Talent that inspired her to start composing. Lindsey then decided to continue to embrace her unique style of performance, promoting herself on the Internet. Shortly after, cinematographer Devin Graham contacted her to see if she wanted to make a YouTube video together. Agreeing, the music video for, "Spontaneous Me." After wards, everything rolled out, with her videos based in a natural scene; her video Crystallize, was viewed even 75 million times! She then created a second channel, which is based on personal life, vlogs and behind-the-scenes videos. Her channels then have been growing rapidly, reaching over 4 million subscribers and 571 million views. Her song, "Crystallize" reached Number 8 in the most viewed charts on YouTube. In 2012, she had released a self-titled EP, and in that, she experimented with violin, hip-hop and dub-step. As a result, Lindsey went on her first-ever tour in that same month. Later, after completing the tour in November, she announced she wanted to go on a "test tour" in Europe. Kicking off in January, 2013, it covered 55 cities including some in Europe, Canada and the US. It ended in April, 2013. In February 2013, during the test tour, she announced her official European tour, which kicked off in Russia in May 2013 and ended in Sweden, June 29, with a total of 26 cities covered. Soon after, Lady Gaga's studio got Lindsey to sign to them, after she refused many record labels before them. She may have preferred to release albums under her own label, LindseyStomp, but this record label knew she was pure material. Later, they released two EPs (one with Tyler Ward and the other with him and Chester See). Soon, her album had hit golden certifications all over Europe and her album has sold over 10 000 extended versions within the first week. She performed on many shows, including Conan. She reached all the way to the Top 100 on billboards and in 2014, her newest album, Shatter Me, came out.
