ABSTRACT NOUNS are nouns that you can't see, hear, touch, smell, or taste.
They are ideas, qualities, and feelings.
Abstract Nouns = IDEAS

A verb is a linking verb if it can be replaced by "is" or "are" and the sentence still makes sense.
A linking verb links (or connects) the subject to a word or words that describes it.

Common Linking Verbs
Some verbs do not refer to any type of action. They simply tell what the subject (noun) is.
Burt is the gardener’s assistant.
He seems afraid of the swans.
One swan looks angry.
In fact, swans are hungry.
Being Verbs
Most verbs are action verbs.
Action Verbs

A word that expresses an action or tells what the subject of the sentence is, has, does, or feels.
Burt works at the park.
He trims the trees.
He loves his job.
He paints the benches.
Types of Verbs
The gardener felt tired.
She felt the tree’s thick leaves.
The lily pond smells stagnant.
The squirrel smells its food.
Linking Verbs
Action Verbs
Some verbs can function as either linking verbs or action verbs.
