Nobody tried to keep him from going,
no elder denied him, dear as he was to them. 199 - 201 The supernatural aid is Beowulf himself his strength. In his day, he was the mightiest man on earth,high-born and powerful.
198 - 199 The captain of evil discovered himself in a hand grip harder than anything he had ever encountered in any man on the face of the earth. Every bone in his body quailed and recoiled, but he could net escape. He was desperate to flee to his den and hide with the devil litter, for in all his days he had never been clamped or cornered like this. 749-756 Beowulf begins to fight Grendel. Beowulf kills Grendel and starts to fight Grendel's mother. Over the waves, with the wind behind her
and foam at her neck, she flew like a bird
until her curved prow had covered the distance and on the following day, at the due hour, those seafarers sighted land,
sunlit cliffs, sheer crags and looming headlands, the landfall they sought. And his glee was demonic,
picturing the mayhem: before morning
he would rip life from limb and devour them,
feed on their flesh; but his fete that night was due to change, his days of ravening had come to an end. So the Shieldings’ hero, hard-pressed and enraged,
took a hold of the hilt and swung the blade in an arc, a resolute blew that bit deep into her neck-bone and severed it entirely, toppling the doomed
house of her flesh; she fell to the floor. The Meeting with the Goddess Beowulf finds a sword Then he saw a blade that boded well,
a sword in her armoury, an ancient heirloom from the days. of the giants, an ideal weapon, one that any warrior would envy, but so huge and heavy of itself
only Beowulf could wield it in a battle. 1557 - 1562 Recognition by the Father The bright court of Heorot has been cleansed and now the word is that you want to adopt this warrior as a son. So, while you may, bask in your fortune, and then bequeath kingdom and nation to your kith and kin, before your decease. I am certain of Hrothulf. He is noble and will use the young ones well. Beowulf came back from his battle against Grendel and Grendel's mother and King Hrothgar wanted to adopt him. Apotheosis The Ultimate Boon Return Refusal of the Return The Magic Flight Rescue from Without The Crossing of the Return Threshold Master of the Two Worlds Freedom to Live Beowulf did as he wanted by killing Grendel and Grendel's mother and now is known by everyone. Beowulf, my friend, your fame has gone far and wide, you are known everywhere. 1703 - 1705 Beowulf kills Grendel's Mother and brings back Grendel's head. In he came then, the thane's commander,
the arch-warrior, to address Hrothgar:
his courage was proven, his glory was secure.Grendel's head was hauled by the hair, dragged across the floor where the people were drinking, a horror for both queen and company to behold. Beowulf becomes close to Hrothgar and does not want to leave, but he knows he has to. And so the good and grey-haired Dane, that high-born king, kissed Beowulf and embraced his neck, then broke down in sudden tears. two forebodîngs disturbed him in his wisdom, but one was stronger: nevermore would they meet each other face to face. And such was his affection
that he could not help being overcome: his fondness for the man was so deep-founded, it warmed his heart and wound the heartstrings tight in his breast. 1870 - 1880 Beowulf and his army are going to fight the dragon. “Men at arms, remain here on the barrow, safe in your armour, to see which one of us is better in the end at bearing wounds in a deadly fray. This fight is not yours, nor is it up to any man except me to measure his strength against the monster
or to prove his worth. I shall win the gold
by my courage, or else mortal combat, doom of battle, will bear your lord away.” Wiglaf helps Beowulf fight the dragon. “Go on, dear Beowulf, do everything you said you would when you were still young and vowed you would never let your name and fame be dimmed while you lived. Your deeds are famous, so stay resolute, my lord, defend your life new with the whole of your strength. I shall stand by you.” 2663 - 2668 Beowulf dies in battle with the dragon. He had no more to confide. The furious heat of the pyre would assail him. His soul fled from his breast to its destined place among the steadfast ones. Beowulf is the master of the Danes and the Geats forever. So the Geat people, his hearth companians sorrowed for the Lord who had been laid low. 3178 -3179 Beowulf will always be remembered as a hero.
