GLOBAL FOOD CRISIS
TONY NGUYEN

THE MAIN QUESTION:
HOW DOES THE GLOBAL FOOD CRISIS AFFECT MALNOURISHMENT?
What is the Global Food Crisis?
The Global Food Crisis is a 'Complex Crisis' which caused a lot of problems. Food prices are being raised which puts millions into poverty. The biofuel production uses up a lot of food crops which is causing a food shortage.
Continuing on...
The population growth has increased a lot over the past few years which means that people will are needing more food.
The Global Food Crisis affects children in poor countries. Kids have to go to work at a very young age just to earn money to be able to purchase food for the family
Malnourishment is when you don't have enough food to develop or function normally. When you don't have all of the nutrients required and become ill.
WHAT IS MALNOURISHMENT?
IMPACT OF FOOD CRISIS ON CHILDREN
The impact of food crisis on children is that kids in poor countries have bad health due to lack of food and eating the nutrition required. Kids end up becoming malnourished....
Continuing on..
which makes them weak and vulnerable to diseases.
Health
Health
Education...
Due to families being poor, kids can't go to school because their families can't afford school fees. kids also need to work at a young age to earn enough money to help out with the family purchase food. Due to the lack of food, it is hard for the kids to concentrate during class.
Child labour
Since that the food prices have all gone up, kids are forced to go to work to earn enough money to be able to buy food. Kids end up having no education and have to go find a job. This is really dangerous because some kids have to go and work in the mines.
Continuing on....
Child labour is also dangerous because kids have to go on the streets begging looking for a job and trying to find money. Some parents end up abandoning their kids.
Resolution
Some solutions to this problem can be that charity should help provide education for kids. Instead of only just giving people money, charities should give people food aid, so that the poor people wouldn't need to go buy it, it's already there for them. Another good thing would be that to feed the kids with the correct nutrients required, that way less kids will be malnourished.
Catholic Social Teachings
Options for the poor and vulnerable
Using the catholic social teaching 'options for the poor and vulnerable' can overcome the impact of children on the Global Food Crisis because it talks about maintaining a special concern for the poor and vulnerable people. If we take special care for the poor, kids won't need to go to work at a young age and they will have more food to get the right nutrients.
Protecting Human Life and Dignity
The Catholic Social Teaching 'Protecting Human Life and Dignity' can help resolve the impact on children because every person has a right to life. This means that everyone has the right to food and nutrition to sustain life. This means that kids have the right to have enough food to eat and all the nutrients to keep healthy so that they would be malnourished.
Answering the main question
HOW DOES THE GLOBAL FOOD CRISIS AFFECT MALNOURISHMENT?
The Global Food Crisis affects malnourishment in many different ways. Since the food prices have increased, countries with poor families don't have enough money to buy food. With low incomes it is also hard for poor families to buy enough food for the family. Therefore the Global Food Crisis can affect malnourishment.
