Isolate the Variable on one side.
5 + 18 + n = 10 + 20
5 + 3 x 6 + n = 10 + 4 x 5
5 + 18 + n = 10 + 20
23 + n = 30
23 + n = 30
23 - 23 + n = 30 - 23
Step 5
Solve the problem
23 - 23 + n = 30 - 23
n = 7
Step 6
Substitute to check.
5 + 3 x 6 +7 = 10 + 4 x 5
5 + 18 + 7 = 10 + 20
30 = 30
