William kyle cooper carpenter was born in Jackson,Mississippi on October 17, 1989 and raised in Flowood. he was a marine and fought in taliban attack he threw him self in a gernade in order to save a fellow marine corp In July 2010, Lance Corporal Carpenter deployed to Marjah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. On November 21, 2010, while joining his team to fight off a Taliban attack in a small village, he suffered severe injuries to his face and right arm from the blast of an enemy hand grenade, including multiple shrapnel wounds and the loss of his right eye. After-action reports state that he threw himself in front of the grenade to protect a fellow Marine, Lance Cpl. Nick Eufrazio.

Master Sergeant Juan E. Negrón September 26, 1929 March 29, 1996 was a member of the United States Army who served in the 65th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War. He is the posthumous recipient of the Medal of Honor for actions during combat operations in Kalma-Eri, North Korea, on April 28, 1951 Negrón's unit came under heavy enemy attack. He was able to halt the enemy attack of his unit, despite the wounds which he received, by accurately hurled hand grenades at short range. For his actions he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross Medal, the Army's second highest military decoration for heroism.

Leroy Arthur Petry (born 29 July 1979) is a career United States Army soldier, now retired. He received the U.S. military's highest decoration Petry threw a thermobaric grenade from cover. At the chicken coop, the two men were joined by Sergeant Daniel Higgins, who assessed the wounds of the two soldiers.Petry was wounded by one round that went through both his legs,[1] and Robinson was wounded, being hit on the armor plate protecting his side. Petry led Robinson to the cover of the chicken coop, and reported the contact and their wounded condition.
Jack Weinstein
The bestowal of the Medal of Honor recognized Weinstein for his exceptionally valorous actions on Oct. 19, 1951 near Kumson, Korea, when his platoon came under enemy attack and Weinstein volunteered to stay and provide cover while his men withdrew. Weinstein killed six enemy combatants and, after running out of ammunition, used enemy grenades around him to keep the enemy forces back. Weinstein held his position until friendly forces moved back in and pushed the enemy back.

Weinstein was posthumously bestowed the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama in a March 18, 2014 White House ceremony.

That afternoon, the reconnaissance platoon was moving into an elaborate enemy bunker complex when the lead elements began taking concentrated ambush fire from every side. Specialist Four Duran stood tall in a cloud of dust raised by the impacting rounds and bursting grenades directed towards him and thwarted the enemy with devastating streams of machinegun fire. Learning that two seriously wounded troopers lay helplessly pinned down under harassing fire, Specialist Four Duran assaulted the suppressive enemy positions, firing deadly bursts on the run. Mounting a log, he fired directly into the enemy’s foxholes, eliminating four and cutting down several others as they fled. Specialist Four Duran then continued to pour effective fire on the disorganized and fleeing enemy. Specialist Four Duran’s extraordinary heroism and selflessness above and beyond the call of duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
