What is Android?
An open source Linux operating system developed by GOOGLE for smartphones and tablets.
Used by many mobile companies like HTC, Samsung, LG, Motorola etc.
Many upgraded versions are available.
First commercial Android Smartphone was HTC dream released in October,2008.

What is iOS?
Initially released in 2007 for iPhone.

IOS is used only in iPhones, iPads etc.
Major updates provided every year through iTunes or Over the air for IOS version 5.0 or later.
An operating system designed for Apple mobile devices.
