It is most easily visible in early November, because it is at its highest. They had a beautiful daughter, Andromeda. Cassiopeia often bragged of her own beauty, claiming that she was more beautiful than the Nereids, Poseidon's daughters. To punish Cassiopeia, Posiedon sentenced for Andromeda to be tied to a rock for a sea monster to eat her. Perseus, who was in posession of Medusa's severed head, came upon this scene and offered to slay the monster in exchange for Andromeda's hand in marriage. The king and queen took the deal, but were unable to complete it because Phineus had been betrothed to Andromeda and demanded his right to marry her. This started a battle between Perseus and Phineus. Cepheus and Cassiopeia sided with Phineus. Perseus was outnumbered and was forced to use Medusa's head to defeat his enemies. After Cepheus and Cassiopeia died, they were placed among the stars. As punishment for her vanity, Cassiopeia is upside down for half the year. The Vain Queen
