Dr. Ronald Ernest Paul

Sex: Male

Born: August 20, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Hometown: Green Tree Borough, Allegheny County, (Pittsburgh), PA
Education: Dormont High School, Gettysburg College, and Duke University School of Medicine
Work: Internship at Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit), Residency at Magee-Womens Hospital (Pittsburgh), Flight Surgeon in U.S. Air Force from 1963-1965, and in the United States National Guard from 1965-1968, Private Practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Political Views: Republican Party (1956-1988, 1988-present) and Libertarian Party (1988; lifetime member)
Religious Views: Southern Baptist
I entered politics on August 15, 1971 when I became a Republican candidate for the United States Congress. In 1974, Robert R. Casey defeated me for the 22nd district. When Casey was appointed to direct the Federal Maritime Commission, I won the April 1976 election to fill the vacant office. I believe that the proper role for government in America is to provide national defense, a court system for civil disputes, a criminal justice system for acts of force and fraud, and little else. I am sometimes referred to as Dr. No due to my insistence that I will never vote for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. I earned my doctorate at Duke University's School of Medicine and used my medical training in the military before starting my own private practice. In doing so, I have delivered over 4,000 babies. I have five of my own children with my wife of 56 years, Carol, who I began dating in high school. While I am Libertarian, I am pro-life, because I believe that life begins at conception.

If I had not followed the medical or political career, I would like to have been a singer.
Tom Lizardo used to join me on weekends for my cross-country drives, during which I liked to listen to elevator music or news reports. I enjoy motivational movies and informative books.
I also write my own books, having published ten works.
One of these books involved revising the education and work ethics of the youth, something I take great interest in.
For this, I published a homeschool online curriculum.

I am the publisher of many newsletters,
because I care about educating the public.
There is also an internet broadcast called "The Ron Paul Channel" that I established to inform the public about my political standings and other events going on in the world that may not be properly represented by the media. I also founded the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, a foreign policy think tank that promotes my non-interventionist views.
I enjoy speaking about politics with my children and I care to hear the opinions of the general public.

“One thing is clear: The Founding Fathers never intended a nation where citizens would pay nearly half of everything they earn to the government.” -Ron Paul (http://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/395622.Ron_Paul)
“Truth is treason in the empire of lies.” -Ron Paul, The Revolution: A Manifesto
“I'm convinced that you never have to give up liberties to be safe. I think you're less safe when you give up your liberties.”
―-Ron Paul (http://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/395622.Ron_Paul)
“Setting a good example is a far better way to spread ideals than through force of arms.” -Ron Paul (http://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/395622.Ron_Paul)
School Is Prison
Public schools are failing our children. It's failing because we are so much training these kids for the standardized tests that we aren't teaching them anything else. The remedy? Homeschooling. I have launched my own curriculum for an online homeschool. It is accessible free for grades K-5, and with a fee for grades 6-12.
Corporations Are Not People
Companies cannot particularly be stopped from putting their externalities into the environment. The people who are most responsible get to make the regulations. If you don't like the banking system, that's too bad, because they get to write all the rules. But you set certain standards by previous cases. If a person is held responsible, then the next go-around, they're going to have to pay attention to this. I am one of the country's most outspoken advocates for limited government and free-market economics, and I feel that corporations need stricter, more mandated rules and regulations regarding the output of products or waste that are potentially very damaging to consumers.
U.S. Drone Abuse
The way we wage war is changing--with drones taking center-stage. The idea: to tag, track, and kill our enemies. I'll tell you why I don't believe this will make us any safer.
It's still war, it's still wrong, and it doesn't address the real subject of why we're over there. But believe me, there are going to be a lot of mistakes. Potential drone pilots are turning down jobs on moral grounds, and existing pilots are suffering from PTSD. Before Snowden was killed, I made a statement on Fox News, that I was worried he may be targeted by somebody in out government for a drone attack. I mean, we live in a dangerous and scary time where U.S. citizens hardly even have rights, and they can just be killed. But the gentleman was just trying to tell the truth about what's going on. I don't have the slightest belief that Snowden was a traitor, and I don't believe the U.S. should be using drones for any purpose, especially not against the citizens. Drones are an invasion of privacy and they break trust in the people.

My son is doing a great job, and I would think running for president next election?

We'll have to wait and find out!

Today Obama said the war in Syria will be escalated. This is wrong, because presidents aren't supposed to start war without permission of the people..
Barack Obama
It's not like I wanted to, I was basically dragged into the decision. Besides, we can't all sit idly by making webisodes about issues, some of us have to take action.
