#### Transcript of The Rain And Acre

The Rain
Inch Of Rain Research
As studies show it would take an approximate 27,154 gallons of rain falling to rain one inch on a one acre of land. This would also be equal to about 113 tons in weight. But this is just an inch of rain and a whole acre of land, we want to solve how much of one-third of rain would it take to fill half of one acre of land. So both the rain and the acre of land are smaller than the original inch of rain and one acre of land, that means that the answer will be different.
So half of an acre is approximately 21,780 square feet and there is 226,512 gallons of water in an acre.
Measurements
An acre of land covers 43,560 square feet but we are looking for half of an acre so divide 43,560 by 2 and you will get that half of an acre is 21,780 square feet. An acre of ground contains 43,560 square feet. Consequently, a rainfall of 1 inch over 1 acre of ground could mean a total of 6,272,640 cubic inches of water. This is the equivalent of 3,630 cubic feet. As a cubic foot of pure water weighs about 62.4 pounds, it follows that the weight of a uniform coating of 1 inch of rain over 1 acre of surface would be 226,512 pounds or about 113 short tons. The weight of 1 U.S. gallon of pure water is about 8.345 pounds. Consequently, a rainfall of 1 inch over 1acre of ground would mean 27,143 gallons of water. But that is just for an acre of land not half.

If 1/3 Of An Inch Of Rain Falls On An 1/2 Acre Of Land How Many Gallons Of Water Falls On The Land? How Much Does It Weigh?
We want to see how much gallons of water would it take to fill the half acre of land by one layer. Also, want to find out how much of that gallons of water would weigh. But its not just water it is rain, one-third of a inch of rain. So instead of a inch of rain from the ground up it would be one-third of that.
43,560 ÷ 2 = 21,780 sq. ft 226,512 ÷ 2 = 113,256 gal.
113,256 ÷ 3 = 37,752 gal.
