This smooth functioning is due to the

body is busily at work each part of the body has a specific job but
all these different parts work together
without even noticing What shall we do whenever we want to ride a bike?? use muscles and bones to steer and push
the pedals use our nerves to direct our movement we breath more heart rate increases Sweat The levels of organization in the
human body consists of: 1-Cells
4-Organ systems So cell is the smallest
unit of organization
and the organ system
is the largest A cell is the basic unit of structure and
function in a living thing Complex organisms are composed of many cells Cells are very tiny and need microscope to be seen Forms the outside boundary of the cell Is the control center that contains the
information that determines the cell's
form, function and activities The material within a cell apart from
the nucleus The 3 processes that are done by
cells to keep organisms alive are: Chemical reactions
for the energy release Growth and reproduction Waste products elimination Cells are specialized to
perform different jobs Group of similar cells that perform
the same job join to form Tissue Muscle Cell Group of such similar muscle
cells forms a muscle tissue What is the main job
of such muscle tissue? It allows movement by contacting and shortening Nerve Cell Group of such similar nerve
cells forms a nerve tissue What is the main job
of such nerve tissue? Carry electrical messages between
the brain and other parts of the body example: Brain cells Bone
Cell Group of such similar bone
cells forms a connective tissue example: Muscle cells example: Bone cells, Red blood cells What is the main job of
such connective tissue? Provides support for our bodies
connects all of parts together Skin
cell Group of such similar skin
cells forms an epithelial tissue What is the main job of
such epithelial tissue? Protects the surfaces of our bodies
and lines our internal organs example: Skin cells So how many kinds of
tissues do we have?? So there are different structures
of cells with different jobs The cell's job is related
to its structure Why are the epithelial tissues
packed closely together? to form protective barrier Why do the nerve cells
have long extensions ? to carry messages Pay
attention!!!! Within each tissue type there are different types of cells with different shape and job For example red blood cells and bone cells are both connective tissues
but the cells that constitute these tissues are different in look and job Organ Group of different types
of tissues performing a
specific function forms So like a
tissue every organ
specific job But!! for sure the job of an organ is
more complex than that of a tissue
Stomach, Intestine
Heart, Blood vessels
Brain, Spinal cord
Different muscles
Skull, Ribcage
Pancreas Examples of some organs: Get rid of wastes Movement of the body and internal organs Breakdown food to be passed to all body cells and absorb nutrients Transport all the materials to and from the cells Detect information from surrounding and controls all body functions Take in oxygen and take out carbondioxide Spports and protects the body Secretes several digestive enzymes Connective Nervous Muscle epithelial contains all 4 kinds of tissue Every type of tissue participates
in the heart's overall job of pumping
blood throughout your body Heart Group of organs that work
together to perform major function Organ System is called an So every organ in our body
is a part of an organ system What are the tissue types
found in your hand?? Heart and blood vessels are major
organs in the circulatory system They are
within the same
why?? Each one performs its own function
but their functions are related
Heart and blood vessels work together to carry out
one major function in the circulatory system which is
"Transportation of all materials to and from the cells" The human body is made up of eleven
organ systems 8 of these systems are: Circulatory system Digestive system Respiratory system Skeletal system Nervous system Muscular system Excretory system Endocrine system Classify the following organs
within the 8 organ systems Again All the organ systems
work together and
depend on one another Why?? To maintain
Homeostasis It is a process by which our
internal bodies
are kept stable and balanced
regardless of the surrounding
by the costant cooperation of the
"Organ systems" There are several ways for
maintaing "Homeostasis" Shivering and sweating are
two processes for maintaining
homeostasis by regulating our body
temperature which is fixed (37 C)
regardless of the surrounding o temperature Stress can disturb
"Homeostasis" What happens if I put you in a
situation that generate stress? Heart
may beat
more rapidly
so that more blood
will move to
muscles Breathing
may increase
so that more
oxygen will
get into our
bodies These reactions
are signs of stress So stress is the reaction of your body to
threatening, challenging or disturbing events What happens once
we are in stress?? The endocrine system releases
a chemical called "Adrenaline"
into our bloodstream "Adrenaline" gives
us a burst of energy When stress is over, our body returns
to its normal state: normal breathing
normal heart beating and normal levels
of adrenaline in blood Thus
