NOW-NEXT to Sequences
Given a NOW-NEXT equation and a starting number, we can create sequences!

Given:
START: 4
NEXT = NOW + 5
Write the sequence!

4, 9, 14, 19, 24...

Sequences to NOW-NEXT
To create a NOW-NEXT equation, you need to know two things:

- Where your sequence starts
- How to get to the next number



NEXT = NOW - a number

OR

NEXT = NOW divided by a number

NEXT = NOW + a number
OR
NEXT = NOW x a number
Try writing a NOW-NEXT equation for this sequence:

4, 16, 64, 256...

Linear equations, like y = 4x +5, can be expressed in
input-output tables.
Even though there are an infinite number of inputs, we can choose a few to create a table (and, eventually, a graph).
Create an input-output table for
the linear function y = 2x -7.
Can you figure out the linear function for this input-output table?
Create an input-output table for the linear function y = -5x +3.
See if you can figure out the linear function for the following input-output table!
Identifying Functions

A set of numbers in which each input has a unique output. The important thing is that

NO X-VALUES REPEAT!
Graphs must pass the vertical line test!
Input-output tables have
no repeating x-values!
Function maps only have one arrow
coming from each x-value!
