Canada is the second largest country in the world (it is 22 times the size of Sweden!), and the largest English-speaking country in the world.
The capital of Canada is Ottawa, which is in the province of Ontario.
Ontario is one of ten provinces. There are also three territories.
Other big cities in Canada are, for example, Toronto, Edmonton and Québec.
Canada has two official languages: English and French.
There are also several smaller regional languages, spoken by the aboriginal peoples.
In Québec, French is the only official language.
A lot of celebrities come from Canada, some of them are:
Canada is a part of the British Commonwealth and their head of state is Queen Elizabeth II.
Canada is both a monarchy and a parliamentary democracy, and the prime minister is called Justin Trudeau.
However, even though there is a lot of land, the population is very small: only 34 million people.
Most of the surface is tundra, forest and the Rocky Mountains.
Most people in Canada know both English and French, and all official documents (laws and such) have to be in both languages.
Canada's official sports are ice hockey and lacrosse. Other popular sports are curling and Canadian football (which is very similar to American football), as well as rugby, basketball, baseball and cricket.
