Transcript of Cell Analogies Collage

The Cell Membrane The cell membrane protects the interior of all animal cells from the exterior. The cell membrane relates to a house, because it protects us from things that happen outside also. The Cytoplasm. A jellylike material located outside of the cell where all the organelles can be located. Air is like a cytoplasm because its the outside of everything, and we rely on it for everything, Nucleus The nucleus is a membrane-enclosed organelle found in eukaryotic cells. Containing most of the cell's genetic material A Brain. A Brain can relate to a nucleus because it also controls everything. Nucleolus a non-membrane bound structure composed of proteins and nucleic acids found within the nucleus of cells. Its finction is to transcribe ribosomal DNA and assemble it within the nucleolus The Mitochondrion The main function is the production of energy, in the form of ATP. The cell uses this energy to perform the specific work necessary for cell survival and function. A real life example is a stomach because it breaks down nutrients and makes energy Washington D.C. is the nucleus of the U.S. So therefore the white house is the nucleolus. Golgi Apparatus The Golgi apparatus packages proteins inside the cell before they are sent to their destination. A real life example is a Post office, because it packs up things before they are sent out. a tiny organelle that occurs in a lot of the the cell cytoplasm freely, in small clusters, or attached to the outer surfaces of endoplasmic reticula, and functioning as the site of protein manufacture. Car instructions go in (mRNA), car parts put together (amino acid chain) then completed cars leave (proteins) Endoplasmic reticulum Packaging of secretory proteins as well as the synthesis of lipids
Traffic relates to the ER. Centriole two small bodies composed of nine fused sets of microtubules, located in cell cytoplasm, which participate in nuclear and cell division
Could be compared to a fishing pole, fishing for chromosomes. The Cytoskeleton is the internal framework of a cell, composed largely of actin filaments and microtubules.
Could be compared to a plastic container, because it protects the stuff it contains. A Cilia is Relatively short, centriole-based, hairlike processes on certain anatomical cells and motile organisms. Could be a broom, because it has hairlike structures aswell. A long, threadlike appendage, especially a whiplike extension of certain cells or unicellular organisms that functions as an organ of locomotion.
A real life examle could be a dog tail. A Lysosome is a part of a cells machinery. They are present inside cells and are like little spheres filled with enzymes which break down unwanted materials.
A real life example could be a vacuum, because it sweeps up our unwanted dirt
