Transcript of Should students be allowed to have cell phones in elementary

Should students be allowed to have cell phones in elementary and high school?
I believe all students in elementary and high school should be allowed to have cell phones at school for safety reasons and for help with everyday schoolwork. There have been many shootings lately in schools. Students used cell phones to let people know what was happening. Cell phones are equipped with calculators and other devices to help check our answers on our schoolwork. Teachers and students use cell phones to get information all the time.
Minor Claim #1
In this video you are about to listen to people at Sandy Hook Middle School calling 911 for help.
Minor Claim #2
Even though cell phones are currently not allowed, I know for a fact that many students secretly use them to check or help with their schoolwork.
Many people are opposed to cell phones in schools because they believe that students will use them to cheat or text friends. Safe grounds would have to be established, like collecting cell phones before tests and giving them back after test.
We live in a generation of technology. we need to put more trust in students to carry cell phones and other technological devices. If someone comes into my school with a gun.......IT MIGHT BE A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH!!!!!
