7 Sons... DAVID
1 Samuel 8:1-2
When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons Joel and Abijah as judges over Israel.
1 Samuel 8:3
But his sons did not follow in his ways, and turned to dishonest gain, accepting bribes, and perverting justice.
1 Samuel 8:4-5
So the elders of Israel came to Samuel and said, 'You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways, so appoint us a king to lead us, like all the other nations have.'
1 Samuel 8:6-9
Samuel was displeased by this, so he prayed to Yahweh, but Yahweh said to him, 'Obey the voice of the people. They have rejected me as their king. Obey them, but solemnly warn them of what their king will do.'
1 Samuel 8:10-11, 13-18
So Samuel repeated all that Yahweh had said to the people who were asking for a king. He said, 'The king who will reign over you will take your sons and put them in his chariot forces and in his cavalry. He will take your daughters to be perfume makers, cooks, and bakers...'
1 Samuel 8:19-20
But the people refused to listen to Samuel and said, 'No! We will have a king to lead us! We will be like all the other nations!'
1 Samuel 8:19-21
Samuel listened to everything the people said, and then repeated it to Yahweh.
1 Samuel 8:22, 9:15
Yahweh said to Samuel, 'Obey them and give them a king. Tomorrow I will send you a man from Benjamin. Anoint him as leader over the Israelites.'
