What is Carbohydrates?
Carbohydrates is the sugars and starches contained in foods
What do Carbohydrates do for the body
Carbohydrates gives you energy
All the cells and tissue in your body need carbohydrates
Consuming too Many Carbohydrates
Not consuming enough Carbohydrates
Can cause you to loose energy
You can loose weight
You end up over eating so you can get the necessary vitamins and nutrients

Simple v.s. Complex
Simple carbohydrates are carbohydrates with 2 or less sugars
examples: table sugar, fruit juice, milk, yogurt
Complex carbohydrates are carbohydrates with 3 or more sugars
examples: vegetables, oatmeal, legumes, brown rice, wheat pasta
