What task does the robot perform? What human function or task does this robot simulate? Asimo helps around the house, or assisting a person confined to a bed or wheelchair. Asimo can look directly at a person and communicate with them if they are sitting up in bed or sitting in a chair. He pours drinks and helps do other tasks around the house like cleaning. How is the robot taught to perform its task? It is taught by hardware that is put into him and all the information he needs is stored inside of him. Is the robotic end effector multi-functional? If so, what other tasks can it perform? Where is the robot used? What is its work envelope? Asimo This robot is used in houses and buildings in which people need assistance. Honda engineers created Asimo with 34 degrees of freedom. Asimo has 50 plus joints in his whole body. Yes the robot is multi-functional. He can turn on light switches, open doors, carry objects, push carts, clean, and many more. What sensors does the robot have and how does the robot use these sensors? Advantages Disadvantages Describe the impact that this robot has had or could have on its intended audience. What type of jobs or careers can this robot create to provide employment for people? Predict and explain how this robot may be altered to perform more or different tasks in the future. Asimo can also pour drinks. here is a video of him doing so. Asimo has force sensors in his wrist. This enables him to push carts. The cameras in his eyes with the force sensors allow him to carry trays. You dont have to do it the robot does it for you.
Technology is good enough so that he wont mess up.
Can save you time so you can do other things. Not as fast as a human.
Technology can always fail.
Needs to be charged. Asimo has the capability to make our lives easier in ways such as pouring a drink into a cup, or performing sign language. In some ways it can act as a helping hand in your household or work place. It is perfect for disabled or elderly people that cannot perform daily functions. It is very functional and can move from place to place well. Asimo can also do jobs too dangerous for humans such as disarming bombs, fighting fires, and going into hazardous areas. To start, engineers and designers will most always be trying to improve or tweak the design of Asimo. Also at some point Asimo could have flaws or require maintenance so a technician or repair person may be needed. This robot is already very functional although it can already understand pre programmed words and phrases, i think that someday it will have a "brain" where it can respond to most phrases and words. Also, i believe there will be an attempt to mass produce them and make them more available to the public.
