Affects of deforestation. The Impacts? what are causes? what are the consequences? FIND OUT! Want to know? =) well, keep watching and ... what is deforestion? Hmm.... Presenting to you... Take a guess! Seriously... would it kill yu to guess? Alright, I'll tell you Deforestation refers to loss or destruction of natural existing forests, and rain forests mainly due to human activities, such as mining projects, cutting down trees, destroying and clearing forests for land, oil extraction and many more. Any guesses? :) now for some facts. Did you know? * Forests cover about 30% of world's land area. *Trees are one of the most important aspects on the planet we live in. * Forests are significant for climate change on earth, filteration of carbon dioxide, are habitats for millions of animals and species, makes massive contribution to medecine and are important for their aesthetic appearal. *Up to 80% of earth's
natural forest's have already been destroyed. * Deforestation links to droughts, floods, lost of habitats and spread of green house gases. Now that you have seen some facts, i hope yu have a better understanding of what deforestation is, and the impact it will cause on a longterm affect. Still not satisfied or convinced of how big a problem deforestation is becoming? Honestly...? :( Time for some statistics that will sure catch your attention on the serious issues of deforestation. Statistics of rainforest destruction *2.4 acres (1 hectare) per second: equivalent to two U.S. football fields

*149 acres (60 hectares) per minute

*214,000 acres (86,000 hectares) per day: an area larger than New York City

*78 million acres (31 million hectares) per year: an area larger than Poland

*On average, 137 species become extinct everyday; or 50,000 each year! Wait! that's not the most shocking fact Did you know that? If the current rate of deforestation continues, the world's rain forests will vanish within the next 100 years causing unknown effects on global climate change and will eliminate the majority of plant and animal species on the planet! Now that you've seen the outraging affects of deforestation, yu still might think that it's not such a big deal. I mean, you must be thinking '' what will deforestation cause? or what may the consequences be?'' It's nothing to be worried about. YOUR WRONG! Shall i reveal the consequences of deforestation? Yess, ofcourse =) The consequences to deforestation There are 3 types of impacts or consequences of deforestation 1.Enviromental *Extinction-loss of biodiversity, example: animals, plants, species. * Climate change- more carbon dioxide are released contributing to global warming. *Pollution- such as ground, water and air pollution caused by oil and gas mining. 2.Social Impact *Lost of culture- people who lives in the rainforest who are dependant on food, water, tools, and materials for cloths from the rainforest suddenly becomes unapproachable. *Health care concerns- experience of poisoning due to oil and mining waste. Who or what might of been the main contributors to deforestation? Animals? Wrong! The enviroment? WRONG! iT JUST HAPPEND BY ITSELF? Um... WRONG! Believe it or not, we are the main cause of deforestation, but we can also be the solution and end to deforestation. Then how? Here are some easy steps =) * Use both sides of paper when faxing, drawing, writing, printing, photocopying and etc. * Remember to Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle. *Save electricity by turning off electrical devices when they are not in use. *Trees get cut purposed for cattle to graze, so try your best to not consume a large variety of meat products. *Instead of buying gold or diamonds, which are mined and contributes to enviromental damage but other non-mined products such as glass. From this presentation,i hoped that you have learned and understood the affects of deforestation, the enviromental and social impacts, the importance of forests and rainforests and how they should be protected from forever extinction. THE END! Well maybe this video will change your mind. You must be wondering... How can you take action? To help save the forests? To help save and protect those endangered animals? To stop destruction to the natural habitat, our enviroment, and property
of contribution for many cure, medecines and etc. Presentation by KellyZhou. x]
