Names of God Esh Iklah, El Kanna Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the Lord your God has forbidden. For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. Deuteronomy 4:23-24 Exodus 34:14 Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. Jealousy is that pain which
man feels from the apprehension
that he is not equally beloved
by the person whom he entirely
loves. Joseph Addison (poet) What is jealousy? Green eyed Monster? Place me like a seal over your heart; like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned. Jealous God
All Consuming Fire Song of Songs 8:6-7 What is fire? Fire is the outward sign
that something inside
is happening. Fire changes whatever it
burns into a different
substance. You cannot experience
the living God without
a change. God's fire is connected to His jealous love. God jealously desires us
and destroys all that
hinders love. Proverbs 14:30
A heart at peace gives
life to the body, but
envy rots the bones. God's jealousy indicates
His passion and commitment. Fire in the Bible Genesis 19:24
Then God rained brimstone and fire down on Sodom and Gomorrah— a river of lava from God out of the sky!—and destroyed these cities and the entire plain and everyone who lived in the cities and everything that grew from the ground. Sacrifice Genesis 22:6
Abraham took the wood
for the burnt offering and
placed it on his son Isaac,
and he himself carried
the fire and the knife. Genesis 6:12
The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it. Commitment Genesis 15:17
When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land... Call of God Exodus 3:1-10
There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush....
“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”... So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” 1 Kings 18:37-39
Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”.Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench. When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!” Exodus 13:20-21
God went ahead of them in a Pillar of Cloud during the day to guide them on the way, and at night in a Pillar of Fire to give them light; thus they could travel both day and night. The Pillar of Cloud by day and the Pillar of Fire by night never left the people. Demonstration Judgement Leviticus 10:1-2
Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, contrary to his command. So fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord. Exodus 24:17
To the Israelites the glory of the Lord looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain. Ezekiel 1:26-28
Above the dome there was something that looked like a throne, sky-blue like a sapphire, with a humanlike figure towering above the throne. From what I could see, from the waist up he looked like burnished bronze and from the waist down like a blazing fire. Brightness everywhere! The way a rainbow springs out of the sky on a rainy day—that's what it was like. It turned out to be the Glory of God! Daniel 7:9-10
“As I looked, “thrones were set in place,
and the Ancient of Days took his seat.
His clothing was as white as snow;
the hair of his head was white like wool.
His throne was flaming with fire,
and its wheels were all ablaze.
A river of fire was flowing,
coming out from before him.
Thousands upon thousands attended him;
ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened. Revelation 4:5
From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits[a] of God. Daniel 10:5-6
I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like topaz, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude. Hebrews 12:28-29
Therefore, since we are receiving
a kingdom which cannot be shaken,
let us have grace, by which we may
serve God acceptably with assurance
and godly fear. For our God is a
consuming fire. Revelation 1:14
The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. Reveal Aspects
of God's character. Malachi 3:2-3
But who will be able to stand up to that coming? Who can survive his appearance? He'll be like white-hot fire from the smelter's furnace. He'll be like the strongest lye soap at the laundry. He'll take his place as a refiner of silver, as a cleanser of dirty clothes. He'll scrub the Levite priests clean, refine them like gold and silver, until they're fit for God, fit to present offerings of righteousness. Job 23:10
But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me,
I will come forth as gold. Psalms 66:10
For you, God, tested us;
you refined us like silver. 1 Peter 1:4-7 T
His inheritance is kept in heaven for you... In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Fire consumes-controls
everything in its path. Exodus 3:14
