You give and take away

God is involved in addition and also subtraction
Through the storm, he is Lord ... Lord of all
6 - 4 = 3
Authentic - acting with integrity, honesty & openness
Edith Limbu:
"When I am in deep trouble, I'm not ashamed to tell that
I cried to the Lord ..."
Baring and Bearing
We need to bare our own struggles and bear one another's ongoing struggles ...
"The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised." (Job 1:21)
Although God blesses us in countless ways, he also allows hardship, trials and struggles. We need to be open and honest about our journey with him through these difficult times, as well as through the good times.
This means:
Christians have problems
We can absolutely depend on God in our problems
But we need to be open about our trials as well as our joys
I know that my redeemer lives and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
(Job 19:25)
But ... in practice, we need more than Bible verses and personal resolve ... we need to share our struggles
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ. (Gal. 6:2)
Why do we struggle to share our struggles?
"Why do churches feel more like country clubs than an AA meeting?"
Katharine Welby speaks and writes openly about depression and her church experience
Sorrow and grief
Sickness and ageing
Emotional scars and difficulties
Sexual orientation
A struggling marriage or a divorce
Unemployment and financial pressures
Uncontrollable children
Anxiety and depression
Linvoy Primus:

We need to be open and honest with each other about where we are in our walk with God, and with life in general
Though the fig-tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the sheepfold and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.

Habakkuk 3: 17-19
