Transcript of NIGHTJOHN

The point of view in my book is first person. I know this because it uses words such as "I" or "We"
The genre of this book is historical ficton. I know this because the stuff in this book could happen. Slavery was also a historical event.
The setting of my book is in the Waller plantation. The Waller plantation is full of slaves. It has a farm that slaves have to in. It also has a big white house for the owners and other valuable people. This book takes place in the past. I know this because now we don't have slaves.

Author: Gary Paulsen
prezi by Talha Ahmed
The antagonist of my book is Clel Waller. Clel is the owner of the plantation and the master of the slaves. He is a mean, brutal, tough guy. He is very rich and very selfish. He has very stricked rules for everything.

There are two protagonist in my book. The first one is a girl named Sarney. Sarney is a slave. She is also an orphan. She has black hair and brown eyes. She also has black skin. She is kind and patient. The second protagonist is John. John is a tall man the has black skin, brown hair, and brown eyes. He is very sneaky and smart. He is always treated the worst. He also is very nice.
ex: I never heard a like that. Pg 44.
Figurative lang.
Onomatopia: "Thunk" Waller put the chisel on it. This is onomatopia because you can hear the sound from the word.
My book is about a girl named Sarney and a man named John. They are both slaves that work on a plantation. The plantation is owned by a cruel man named Clel Waller. One day she made a deal with John to teach her how to read. Being a slave she was not supposed to learn how to read, but she started to learn anyways. She began with the letter A and soon she learned the whole alphabet. After that, she began to read words and spell words. Finally, she was able to read and spell words. She was so happy that she accidently spelled a word out loud, and she was caught. Both John and Sarney made a run for it. Will they get caught or will the become free? Read the book to find out.
I think this book was good to give historical information and the struggle about slavery. It was a little slow, but it was still good. I would recommend this book to people that like historical fiction. I would also recommend this book to 12 years and up because there was a lot of bad words and inapropriate things. I rate this book 2 out of 5 stars.
