  • It is usually transmitted by close contact with the saliva or nasal secretions from an infected individual. Typically in the form of airborne respiratory droplets.

  • Children, infected person, and humans.

Chain of Infection- Strep Throat

Reservoirs

  • A Streptococcus carriers and infected and sick individuals are the most common reservoirs of the bacteria.
  • Children are the most commonly infected with the disease and are also common vectors.

Infectious Agent

  • The cause of strep throat is bacteria known as Streptococcus pyogenes, also known as group A streptococcus. Streptococcal bacteria are highly contagious.

  • Direct and indirect
