Reservoirs
- A Streptococcus carriers and infected and sick individuals are the most common reservoirs of the bacteria.
- Children are the most commonly infected with the disease and are also common vectors.
Infectious Agent
- The cause of strep throat is bacteria known as Streptococcus pyogenes, also known as group A streptococcus. Streptococcal bacteria are highly contagious.
