George Brown I chose George Brown as my father of confederation because, I thought it would be interesting to learn about him and I thought I might learn new and interesting things. George Brown was born at Alloa, near Edinburgh, Scotland, on November 29, 1818. During confederation, George Brown was 30 years old. George Brown's role during confederation was, he was the newspaperman, who started one of Canada's most successful newspapers, The Globe. George Brown's contribution towards Canada's confederation were: Newspaperman, who started one of Canada's most successful newspapers, The Globe; Helped bring about the creation of the Reform party; Played an important role int he Charlottetown conference. George Brown had a notable personality, was a powerful communicater and was widely sought as an after-dinner speaker, on which occasions he could be informative as well as witty, spicing his speeches with many amusing anecdotes.
