The first plane created could transport people seated up to 10. Nowadays this planes are known as airliner.
As World War II began, engineers started developing better equipment. They invented airplanes radars that were able to detect airplanes flying. They also started using Identification friend or foe technologies also known as RFID.
In 1918 the U.S Postal Service, since it was three days faster that the train, decided to use airplane to deliver mails across the whole country.
During the 1990s, engineers invented planes using non-metal materials that a radar was unable to detect. After that, stealth planes were invented.
Since during WWI there was the need for better airplanes for fighting purposes, many upgrades were made such as speed. The aircraft played an important role, during the war, for every nation; between 1914-1918 different types of planes were created (scouts, night bombers, night fighters etc...).
An airplane is a powered, fixed-wing aircraft that is propelled forward by a jet engine or propeller
Cockpit:
Fuselage:
The fuselage is an aircraft's main body section that holds crew and passengers or cargo.
A cockpit or flight deck is the area, usually near the front of an aircraft or spacecraft, from which a pilot controls the aircraft. Most modern cockpits are enclosed, except on some small aircraft.
High-lift device:
In aircraft a high-lift device is a component or mechanism on an aircraft's wing that increases the amount of lift produced by the wing.
Empennage:
The first powered aircraft - a steam-powered airdrome - was created by Samuel Langley. It was not named, and yet it flew for - more or less - half a mile.
The empennage also known as the tail or tail assembly, provides stability for aircraft, in a way similar to the feathers on an arrow.
Wings:
The wings of a fixed-wing aircraft are static planes extending either side of the aircraft
Landing gear:
Landing gear is the undercarriage of an aircraft or spacecraft and may be used for either takeoff or landing.
Vertical stabilizer:
or fins, are typically found on the aft end of the fuselage or body, and are intended to reduce aerodynamic side slip and provide direction stability.
Tailplane:
A tailplane, is a small lifting surface located on the tail behind the main lifting surfaces of a fixed-wing aircraft.
Sir George Cayley designed and built the first winged aircraft.
It is the first recorded fixed-wing aircraft of any size capable of flight.
An aircraft or airplane is a machine that is able to fly.
From the year they were invented they are now able to transport both people and goods across the world in a very fast and safe way.

Airplanes allowed, first the army and then civilians, to move across countries and transporting goods where needed. It's a very fast mean of transport and it became cheaper over the years. It was also fundamental in the two World Wars.
Airplanes changed our view of the world since they were invented.
In 1804, Cayley made this design for a small fixed-wing glider in his notebook.
