Evidence

Conclusion

Rudy Stagg was a vigilante.

Evidence

Introduction

Vigilantes need to leave handling law to those trained to do so. Trying to go over the heads of the police or military will only result in added suffering for those involved. Rudy Stagg, Batman, and Spiderman, should find knew occupations.

As evidenced in the London riot in 2011, vigilante behavior is dangerous. During the riot, vigilantes took to the streets. The riot was thought to have grown out of a peaceful vigil for a man who was shot and killed by London police. During the riot, vigilante behavior was discouraged because people were getting injured by going out on the streets and attempting to enforce order (Ferran and Schone). Ordinary civilians are not trained to handle these kinds of behaviors, and are putting themselves in danger by taking the law into their own hands.

Ferran, Lee and Mark Schone. "Vigilante Groups Turn on London Rioters." ABC News. ABC News Network, 10 Aug. 2011. Web. 09 Nov. 2012.

A vigilante is defined as someone who takes the law into their own hands. While Batman and Spiderman make the role of vigilante look heroic and, at times, glamorous, vigilantes can be dangerous. Although our military and police force may not be perfect, civilians should not take the law into their own hands. Rudy Stagg and other instances of vigilante behavior provide evidence as to why civilians should let the military and police handle the enforcement of our laws.
