The Story Mortals

The story Mortals is about a metro editor who writes obituaries for the newspaper. Whenever someone dies he calls the family and morgue to confirm there death. That is what he's supposed to do but after having this job for a long time he starts to skip these steps. this causes him to proclaim a very much alive person dead. After his boss figures out he is fired. Mr. Givens ,the man thought dead, feels bad and offers him a meal. While they were eating he ask Mr. Givens who could have said he was dead and after a long list of questions he came to the conclusion that Mr. Givens had called in his own death. He thought that the reason he did this was for attention. At the end of the story he is already planning to sell the story to the news and get his job back.
