7 Commandments of Animalism

1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.

This commandment was overlooked when Napolean started to converse with humans through Mr. Whymper.

2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.

This commandment was not changed.

3. No animal shall wear clothes.

This commandment was changed when the pigs began to adopt human characteristics.

4. No animal shall sleep in a bed.

Once the pigs started to inhabit the farmhouse, they

were rumored to sleep in the house's beds, which some of the animals thought they remembered was against the rules.

But, when they read the commandment again to make sure, it read: No animal shall sleep in a bed "with sheets." the pigs had changed it to suit themselves.

5. No animal shall drink alcohol.

After the battle of the windmill, some alcohol was found on the farm,

and the pigs celebrated their victory in the farmhouse.

The next day, none of the pigs were stirring, and Squealer drearily anounced that Napoleon was dying.

the next day it was announced that the drinking of alcohol will be punishable by death.

But, later that day, Napoleon was better. He just had a hangover.

A few nights later, the animals caught Squealer fallen off a ladder with a pail of white paint beside the farmhouse wall. No one could make any sense of it.

But, a few days later, Muriel noticed that the cammandment had been changed to: No animal shall drink alcohol "in excess."

6. No animal shall kill any other animal.

Once Napoleon assumed his "dictator" postion,

he decided to kill anyone who opposed him or

broke the rules.

The animals thought this was against the rules, but when they checked, it read : No animal shall kill any other animal "without cause."

7. All animals are equal.

At the end of the book, the pigs got power-hungry, and then started to walk on two legs and carry whips. They assumed total control of the farm and got complements from the humans.

Soon after the commandment was changed to "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
