Summary

  • They belong to a middle class family and they have strong ambition to buy a modern day house.

  • Tay Soon was attracted to the share market because share price was rising. So, he invested $30,000 of his money into the share market. Luckly, he was able to make $100,000 within short period of time.

  • He invested more money. But unfortunately, the value of shares began to fall rapidly. There wasn't anything to control the declining of money. He invested the rest of his money.

  • He himself broke physically. He stopped eating and started beating his wife and children. His condition was becoming worse and worse and so he was admitted to hospital.

Paper stands for many things such as plain paper, money, and more. But the growth of the value of paper means their success in the matter. Paper also stands for the material success and failure in both generations between the young and the old as shown in the story when Tay Soon is taken lightly by his mother and the mother is taken lightly by the Tay Soon.

Tay soon in the end lost all his money in the last attempt to get money but it was useless. Tay soon stopped eating and started to beat his wife and his kids.

Tay soon had lost a lot of money but he thought it would begin to increase so he invested all of his money.

Tay Soon made $100,000 in short amount of time and he was excited and happy. So, he added more money to the shares.

His condition got worse and worse by ever passing day. He was then admitted to a hospital to get better but that never happen.

Tay soon was attracted to the share market because share price was rising. So he invested $30,000 of their money to the shares. He convince Yee Yeng to also buy shares and he tried to convince his mother but she didn't want to.

Tay Soon then died and his mom said she would pay for funeral and she went to someone to make a paper house to bury with Tay soon. Tay Soon's mom then burnt paper house together with Tay Soon and turned it into ashes

He started to loses money because the stock were rapidly falling.

Tay soon and Yee lian dreamt of a dream house and marble floors, oval shaped living room, and a swimming pool. They saved up $40,000 in the bank.

Person VS Self: Tay Soon was greedy and wanted more money for his dream but the shares started to fall. Tay Soon hoped that it would magic start to increases but that never happenned. Also when he lost all his money he stopped going to work and he stopped eating too.

Person VS Person: Tay Soon started abusing his wife Yee Lain and his kids because he lost all his and Yee Lain and her sister's money.

The mother was a very prudent person. She wasn't supporting what TAY SOON and YEE LIAN were doing

Yee lian was supporting her husband, later she became very greedy.
