I thought this book was okay because the plot was slow, and it felt like a really long book. I don't know if I'm going to continue this series.
I recommend this book to anyone who is okay with a sad, depressing story. I also recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries.
Charles is Sir's partner. He is kind to the children, and tries to help them in the best way we can, but he's not really that helpful.
Sir is the orphans' new guardian. He is the owner of Lucky Smells Lumbermill in Paltryville. He treats the orphans as workers instead of family. He makes a deal with them that they work in the mill and Sir will keep Count Olaf away.
Phil is a worker at the lumbermill. He is an optimist, meaning he looks at everything in the most positive way there is.
The Baudelaire Orphans are once again looking for a new relative to stay with since their last stay with Aunt Josephine was ruined by Count Olaf. Mr. Poe decides to take them to Lucky Smells Lumbermill in Paltryville, because they have a distant relative that is the owner there. When they get to the mill, they are welcomed by a seemingly nice man named Phil who was suprised that 3 children were coming to a dangerous lumbermill. Phil leads them to there room where they find a note left for them by their new caretaker.
