Penguin Life Cycle

Emperor penguin

Emperor penguins usually huddle together to keep warm in the cold temperatures of Antarctica.

Stage 1

Stage 4

Stage 3

There used to be a time when penguins could fly.

Penguins stay warm because their feathers trap warm air and act as insulation.

The penguin is a fully grown adult.

Unlike other kinds of penguins, father Emperor penguins stay with the egg while the mother fishes.

The penguin is almost an adult; a sub adult.

Stage 2

Penguins lose their feathers all at once.

When young penguins are 8-9 weeks old, they feed themselves.
