The theme to this story is love, all Lee needed to get his life back together was love. He found Cutter and they became friends and they had a bond; he had love with his aunt Reena and they became closer because Lee had been living with her for a while. Being sent to his aunts was a good thing because it got him out of all of the violence and working for his aunt helped. Near the end Lee and his father became closer because Lee had changed. At the end of the story Lee had a happy, loving family. A big point the author put in this theme was that things can change.
