Cell Analogy: Prison

Chloe Cotton

Nucleus

The nucleus is like the prison warden's

office. A prison warden controls what

happens in the prison and knows what is

happening everywhere, just like the

nucleus directs the cells activities.

Endoplasmic Reticulum

The Endoplasmic Reticulum is like the prison's

hallways. It carriers prisoners from one place to the other like the ER carries materials throughout the cell.

Cell Membrane

The cell membrane is like the entrance

of a prison because it controls what

comes in and out just like the cell

membrane controls what enters and

exits the cell.

Centrioles

The centrioles is like the judge. A judge places the

prisoners and coordinates who goes where. The centrioles coordinates cell division.

Mitochondria

The mitochondria is like the prison generator because it produces all of the energy for the prison like the mitochondria does for the cell.

Nucleolus

The nucleolus is like human resources

because it organizes and makes thing go

where they need to go.

Chloroplast

The chloroplast is like the prison cafeteria.

It holds and produces the food and water for the inmates like the chloroplast produces the food and water for the cell.

Golgi Apparatus

Lysosome

The golgi apparatus is like the mail room of a prison. It receives messages and sends them throughout the prison, not unlike what the golgi body does in the cell.

Lysosomes are like the waste disposal of a prison because they take the waste from inside the prison to outside, much like the lysosome does in a cell.

Vacuole

The vacuole is like the storage room in a prison because it stores the food and water for later usage. The vacuole does the same within the cell.

Ribosomes

Cytoplasm

The cytoplasm is like the actual prison because it connects all of the different divisions of the prison like the cytoplasm connects the organelles of a cell.

The ribosomes are like the intake officers at a prison because they read records and decide where the prisoners go within the jail, like the ribosomes read instructions within the cell.
