Wendell had raced a lot of races. To tell the truth, blacks and whites were separated so the blacks had to sit lower on the bleaches.That means they had to watch out for dirt when the racers come by.Whites get to sit on the top, so they can see any accidents or who is first!
Wendell Scott was born on August 29, 1921 in Danville, Virginia. He was interested in race cars when he watched them race on the raceway.
Driving behind the wheel takes big responsibility. He also been speeding on the street (and racing) .They out ran the polices a few times, but when they turned the corner, there were a line of polices covering the street. They didn't arrest the boys because they didn't know they can't drive on the street with there cars.
Wendell's car number is 34 on his car. He won in the Grand National Series in 1999.
Wendell was the first black racer to race against other white racers. He also won trophies in the races. The color of his car is light blue. Wendell Scott is an inductee this year!
