- Use the handouts given to you in class and choose one of objects.
- Practice drawing them using different types of lines.
- Drawings must be a variety of mediums. Try using ink, marker, pencil, and pen.
- Glue or tape your drawings in your sketchbook.

Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the mid-1950s in Britain and the late 1950s in the United States.
For this assignment you will be exploring line drawing and creating a Pop Art portrait.
How you will be graded:
- Neat 20%
- Evidence of a variety of line 20
- Labeled 20%
- Use of different mediums (ink, pen, pencil, charcoal & marker) 20%
- Detail/Effort/ use of class time 20%
Sketchbook
You will have two classes to practice making a contour drawing of an umbrella. This will go towards your sketchbook mark.
For this assignment you will be using Photoshop to create a "Pop Art Portrait"
- Choose a figure from pop culture. It could be a singer, actor, athlete, politician, or any famous pop culture icon.
- Find a picture of that person on the internet.
- Use that image to create a contour line drawing in Photoshop.
How you will be graded:
- Correct use of Photoshop pen tool to create a contour line drawing of a pop culture figure. 20%
- Two types of contour lines are evident - solid and simulate pressure. 20%
- Correct use of Photoshop brush tool to add colour to portrait 20%
- Colour and style of portrait reflects Pop Art movement 20%
- Portrait contains halftone dots. 20%
