Bishops sometimes wear purple shirts or a purple sash / waist-band over a white cassock. The colour purple has been used since ancient times to symbolise a ruler or a leader of the people. The bishops ring is normally made of Amethyst

The Crook or The Crosier.

A Mitre is used to cover the Bishops head ,made out of two triangular stiffend matieral,which represents the Holy Spirts,the shapes of the toungues of fire.

Bernard Longley has been Archbishop of Worcester and Birmingham since 2009 which is 8 1/2 years.

The crosier is the the symbol of the governing office of a bishop. A bishop carries this staff to show that he is a "shephard of the flock of God", (the community under his care).
