How do we address the media?

Terror attacks, attacks against security forces, rocket fire, etc.

WHEN?

A chance for us to send out information we would like reporters to have and write about, and/or set the framing of events we know reporters will write about.

WHY?

Update: Visuals of Perpetrations for the IDF's

Humanitarian Mission to Nepal

03-6080245

"Hamas' leaders cannot expect to propagate violence and terror from the comfort of their living-rooms and pulpits of their mosques. When you encourage, promote and praise the death the innocent the IDF will act swiftly in order to contain the hateful incitement that jeopardizes the safety and wellbeing of so many Israelis and Palestinians alike."

Today, Monday April 27th, an IDF humanitarian mission left Israel en route to Nepal in order to provide search, rescue and medical services following the devastating earthquake that struck the district of Kathmandu. The IDF's immediate objectives include establishing a field hospital in order to begin performing life-saving medical procedures, and to rescue as many people from the destruction sites as possible.

IDF: Update- A terrorist attacked a 30 years old woman in the community of Tekoa, south of Jerusalem. The attacker entered the community, stabbed and wounded the woman. The terrorist was shot by security personnel at the scene. The victim has been evacuated to a hospital for emergency medical treatment.

WHEN?

violent riots, overnight activities in the west bank-arrests, overnight activities, Palestinians wounded/killed by security forces.

"Firing a rocket at people's homes is a clear, coward and cruel act of terrorism. Whether it's a rocket attack, a shooting, a stabbing or any other form of aggression meant to terrorize civilians, the IDF will not tolerate it. We will continue safeguarding all Israeli civilians whose lives are put in harm's way."

WHY?

Terror Attack in the Duma Village

It's our responsibility to provide answers and information regarding operational activities involving the IDF. As you all know it's important to have our statement appear, especially in articles that are inherently negative, in order to give an alternative narrative (our side of the story) and/or to provide context.

IDF: Update- Stabbing attack thwarted south of Nablus. A Palestinian assailant drew a knife and attempted to stab soldiers securing the area. The force responded and fired towards the attacker, resulting in his death.

Overnight IDF received reports of two homes set ablaze in the village of Duma north east of Ramallah. As a result of the fire, a Palestinian child was killed and three additional family members were critically wounded.

The preliminary investigation suggests that suspects entered the village in the early hours of the morning, set the homes ablaze and sprayed graffiti in Hebrew on the homes.

IDF forces are currently operating in order to locate the suspects of this attack.

Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, IDF Spokesman: “This attack against civilians is nothing short of a barbaric act of terrorism. A comprehensive investigation is underway in order to find the terrorists and bring them to justice. The IDF strongly condemns this deplorable attack and has heightened its efforts in the field to locate those responsible”.

Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, IDF Spokesman:

Announcement

Anytime we want to say more and make sure our statement makes it to the article. Quotes can also help create the framing we want in a way that doesn't seem so much like propaganda. Most of the times our qoutes are affected by events in Israel and the World.

WHEN?

Strikes, search and rescue missions to disaster zones, casualties (as a result of an attack or during operational activity), background information. ***demolitions, special arrests, joint IDF and ISA operations, etc.

WHY?

Reporters will usually be more inclined to incorporate our messaging in their articles if it's in a form of a quote they can attribute to an IDF official, in this case- Lt. Col. Peter Lerner. A quote is one way to get creative and think out of the box about ways to convey our messaging in an interesting and precise way.

WHY?

Announcements are more formal and usually have more content. Similar outlook to an sms.
