Content: It is about a man who loves a woman so deeply but she doesn't return his love. He would give anything just for her but she only thinks of herself
Reasoning: It fits with the act because Romeo feels Dejected because when he tried to confess his love for Rosaline she declined him despite how much he loved her.
Evidence: "Whatever I feel for you
You only seem to care about you
Is there any chance you could see me too?
Cause I love you
Is there anything I could do
Just to get some attention from you" (Woodkid)?
No matter how much I love you, you only care about yourself and is there anything in this world that can get you to love me.
"From loves weak childish bow she lives unharmed. She will not stay the siege of loving terms, Nor bide the encounter of assailing eyes, Nor ope her lap to saint-seducing gold.
She is not bound to love and no amount of money or love will ever woo her to love you.
Content: it is about somebody who won't give on their relationship. No matter the hardships they go through, they will remain faithful.
Reasoning: Juliet won't marry Paris and give up on Romeo. Even when things get rough with Romeo's banishment she stays faithful to their relationship.
Evidence: "Well, I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up" (Jason Mraz)
Even if their relationship is strained he/she will not give up and walk away from it
"God joined my heart and Romeo's, thouour hands; And ere this hand, by thee to Romeo's sealed, Shall be to labeled to another deed, Or my true heart with treacherous revolt, Turn to another, this shall slay them both" (Shakespeare 1074).
I am married to Romeo and will remain that way even if I have to go to extremes like killing myself
This woman loves this guy so much that she would die with him or if he becomes unfaithful. Basically if he dies, she dies with him
Reasoning: Juliet would rather die then be apart from Romeo and they commit suicide for each other. Just like in the song if he dies I go with him
Evidence: "If you go before I do
I'm gonna tell the gravedigger that he better dig two" (The Band Perry)
She tells the grave digger if my husband goes dig to graves one for me and one for my husband
"What's here? A cup, closed in my true love's hand? Poison, I see, I hath
been his timeless end. O churl! drunk all, and left no friendly frop To help me after? I will kiss thy lips. Haply some poison yet doth hang on them To make me die with a restorative" (shakespeare 1097)
Content: The song is about somebody who is depressed and then meets this person who dramatically changes their life and reminds the joy in the world
Reasoning: Juiliet saved Romeo from his sadness over Rosaline rejecting him. In the balcony scene Romeo compares her to an angel and forgets about his love for Rosaline because he found Juliet who makes him happy again instead of being woeful
evidence:
"Most of what I used to be had vanished in the waves
The memories of the boy I've been were drowning and you saved them
Now I remember the joy and the meaning of the fate
The color of the truth and the sound of sunny days" (Woodkid).
I used to be woeful but you saved my happiness
"O, Speak again, bright angel! for thou art As glorious to this night, being o'er my head, As is a winged messenger in heaven unto the white upturned wond'ring eyes Of mortals that fall back to gaze on him When he bestrides the lazy-pacing clouds And the sails upon the bosom of air" (Shakespeare 1023)
Romeo compares Juliet to an angel, basically calling her perfect and divine
Content: Icarus is about the fall of a man his/her "rise". Based of the greek mythology of Icarus who had feathers made with wax he became overzealous and flew to close to the sun and died in the Ocean
Reasoning: Romeo's rise and flight was meeting and marrying Juliet which took him higher and higher toward the sun. But Romeo soon killed Tybalt which is where he flew too close to the sun causing his "wings to melt" and him to fall to his death which was his banishment away from Verona and Juliet
Evidence: "Icarus is flying too close to the sun
Icarus's life, it has only just begun
This is how it feels to take a fall
Icarus is flying towards an early grave" (Bastille).
"Icarus" became overzealous and as young as he is he is on a crash course for doom.
"Hence the banished is banisht from the world, And world's exile is death. Then "banishment" is death mistermed" (Shakespeare 1056)
Romeo is saying if you banish me and take me away from Juiliet, is the same as death itself.
