Amelia earhart's journey

At 7:42 A.M Itasca picked up a message said that “The fuel was running low, and can’t reach you by radio”. At 8:45 A.M Amelia reported “ We’re running North and South”. Nothing else was ever heard from Amelia Earhart. The International Group of Historic Aircraft Recovery or TIGHAR, launched a two million dollar search for evidence. in the 1940’s- 1960’s they sent a search and rescue plane that also disappeared.

Amelia Earhart was daring and she was always ready to prove people wrong that had doubted her. She had many medals and achieved many goals. At first she couldn’t stand looking at the filthy planes. After her first ride in one, it changed her mind. Amelia will always be remembered by her daring personality and her hunger for adventure.

on December 28,1920, a pilot named frank hawks took Amelia Earhart on a ride that changed her life forever. After that ride she said she'd die if she couldn't fly. On January 3, 1921, Amelia Earhart had her first flying lesson.

April 1928, Amelia Earhart got a phone call at work but she was too busy to answer it, but after hearing it was important she took it, that's when the man asked her "How would you like to be the first women to fly across the Atlantic Ocean?" and she said yes.

Amelia Earhart's family and friends

George Putman became friends with Amelia. George Putman kept pressuring Amelia to marry him. Amelia was close friends with the president. Amelia’s mother Amy Earhart didn’t like the fact that Amelia was a tomboy. Amelia and her sister Muriel had a difficult childhood. Amelia’s dad Edwin became an alcoholic during their troubled marriage. Amelia’s parents got a divorce. Amelia had some nicknames for instance Amelia’s younger sister Muriel called Amelia “Meelie” because she couldn’t pronounce her name right.

Soon enough every where Amelia went people were waiting to greet her. Amelia went on a month long trip around the country. She loved every one because she was daring, if someone doubted her she proved them wrong. On June 18, Amelia went on a radio broadcast encouraging women to make their mark, and get good careers.

Amelia and her sister Muriel,had an adventurous childhood together and accompanied by their very special companions, "Donk and ellie", and "Laura and Ringa".

When Amelia Earhart was ten she saw her first plane.

when Amelia Earhart was twelve they had to move wherever their dad found work, so she went to many different schools. After graduating Earhart attended a girls finishing school.

Earhart left in the middle of of her second year because she was working as a nurse’s aid in a military hospital in Canada during WWI or also known as World War I, after she attended college. That's On May 30,1932, five years after Lindbergh she left from Harbor Grace, to Paris. Bad weather forced her to land in a pasture near Londonderry, Ireland.

Gardner Island

Again seventy five years later there have been some clues people have found. The first clue was discovered in June, they found shards of glass from a 1930’s jar of freckle cream. Then in 2010 they found buttons and a zipper from a woman's flight jacket from the 1930’s. Also on the same island, Gardner Island. TIGHAR also released images captured off Nikumaroro showing what might possibly be some wreckage from Amelia’s plane. But now sources are saying Amelia might still have been alive. Photo’s could also uncover a castaway who’s partial skeleton was found in 1940. Matthew O'Sullivan took pictures of a remote Island where Amelia may have survived. There is a box full of photos for a total of forty- five with a note that says “Gardner Island”. Officer Gerald Gallagher found human remains thirteen bones from an individual more likely an woman and more likely white but unfortunately the remains got lost. A image was released near Gardner Island that almost looks like Amelia’s landing gear.

On July 24, 1897 in Atchinson Kansas, Amy earhart was about to give birth a baby girl. She traveled all the way from Kansas city, to mother’s house above the Missouri River for the occasion. At 11:30pm, Amelia Mary Earhart was born, she was named after her grandmothers, Amelia Otis and Mary Earhart; she came to a whopping total of ten pounds and four kilograms. This is the Journey of Amelia Earhart.

Goals and Accomplishments

Amelia is the first woman to fly solo across North America. In 1933 Amelia breaks her own record flying across North America. On January 11, 1935, Amelia Earhart was now the first person to fly solo across the Pacific. Later on she was the first solo from Mexico City, to Newark. In 1932, Amelia became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic.

In 1937, as Amelia’s fortieth birthday got closer she was ready for a monumental, and final challenge to be the first woman to fly across the world. She will need months of preparation. Amelia proved men and women should both have equal rights. Congress gave Amelia the Distinguished Flying Cross, which was the first ever given to an woman. Years passed and Amelia was still hard at work breaking records. Amelia wrote two books in her life. Her life has been devoted to flying ever since her first ride. One time Amelia pulled up in a farmer’s backyard, and the word quickly spread and next thing you know Amelia was receiving a gold medal from the president. Amelia also made a poem called “Courage”.
