  • A 2003 study in the densely populated mining town Selebi-Phikwe, showed an overall amount of 52.2 percent, 22 the highest in the country.

people) was 23.29 at 2011. Over the last 51 years

the highest value was 46.99 in 1960 and the lowest

was in 2011. From 1960 to 1984 the birthrate was constantly decreasing. But from 1985 there was a rapid decrease in birthrates. Not many years ago (2005) the rapid decrease in birthrates started to slow down. The decrease in birthrates are now

starting to be constant.

HIV and AIDS affects the economic growth by reducing the availability of human capital.People living with HIV/AIDS will not only be unable to work, but will also require good medical care.

Today, access is extremely high with more than 95 percent of all adults and children in need of treatment receiving it.

Aids has a large impact on Botswana's Population seeing approximately 320,000 people are currently living with Aids out of the 2,155,000 people that live in Botswana. This total means that about 14% of the entire population

has Aids.

Botswana has also succeeded in testing and treating high numbers of pregnant women with HIV. Decreasing the number of new HIV infections among children in 2011.
