About post-modernism

The term 'post-modernism' was first coined by architect Charles Jencks.

The post modernism movement started with architecture, by contemporary designers who wanted to bring back individualism and personality back in design.

Postmodernism has influenced many cultural fields, including literary criticism, sociology, linguistics, architecture, visual arts, and music.

New design style

Humour & personality: bright and colourful products, often includes unnecessary decorations to give static objects personality.

'Reto' designs: designs take inspiration from past movements and styles and reinvent them in a new way.

Deconstruction: development in architecture; surface structure of building is distorted so that it becomes non-rectangular. Visual abstract and non-symmetric appearance gives impression of controlled chaos.

Examples of post-modernism designs.
