Balthasar is talking to Romeo in this scene, he had seen Juliet laid in the Capulets monument and came to tell Romeo. The imagery of death Balthasar is giving is quite vivid.

Monument, immortal, angels live, and kindreds vault all suggest death in different ways which makes this makes this a strong image. Immortal means never dying, and in this quote they are referring to Juliet's soul never dying and living with the angels in heaven. She was put in her kindreds vault which is the Capulets monument, while everyone really believed she was dead.

Explanation: Juliet is talking to Friar Lawrence about her connection to god, when she finds out that she was to be married to Paris she goes to Friar Lawrence for help. She tells him that if she has to marry Paris she will stab herself. In this quote Shakespeare uses the power of Relifion and god, its wrong to be married to two people, and being married comes with lots of responsibility. Juliet feels being with Paris is much like Death not enjoyable.

Here Romeo is talking to the Apothecary and buying poison because he can't live without his Juliet. The type of poison he wanted is described well in a way of showing the pain behind taking the poison.

Such soon spreading gear means this poison will take effect very quickly, thus killing the life-weary takerr in a very short amount of time. The imagery is more vivid where it its states; "such soon spreading gear as well disperse itself through all the veins". Really good imagery here is shown when it describes how the poison will spread through you're veins at a fast rate. Basically this quotes is saying a little poison will spread fast through your veins, and anyone who takes this poison will di3e within minutes.

Explanation: Friar Laurence shows

Romeo a flower in his herbal garden.

He says that the flower smells really

good, but if you eat it it will kill you.

This quote resembles Romeo and Juliets

love, saying that it will seem to be

fine at first, but after awhile it will

turn bad. This shows imagery of death

by comparing a poisonous flower to

Romeo and Juliets relationship.

Quote: "Within the infant rind of this weak flower, poison hath residence and medicine power: For this, being smelt, with that part cheers each part; being tasted, slays all senses with the heart." (2:3:23-26)

Quote: "God joined my heart and Romeo's, thou our hands. And ere this hand, by thee to Romeo sealed, shall be the label to another deed, or my true heart with treacherous revolt turn to another, this shall slay them both." (4.1.56)

Imagery of Death

Quote: "A dram of poison, such soon spreading gear as well disperse itself through all the veins, that the life weary taker may fall dead." (5.1.60-63)
