Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum on Tuesday hailed passage of a bill by the Oregon Legislature that makes it an unlawful trade practice to wrongfully accuse others of infringing on their patents. Oregon became only the second state, behind Vermont in 2013, to take action against what is called "patent trolling." "Under Senate Bill 1540, the Oregon Department of Justice can take enforcement action against those who, without a good faith basis, accuse others of infringing on their patents," the AG's office reported in a news release. "The accusations are usually paired with a demand for money, under the guise of a 'licensing fee."
