Business

Did Betsy Ross really make the first flag?

Why Betsy Ross was Famous

Betsy Ross owned an upholstery business with her husband. After he died, she continued running the business.

She was a successful business woman in 18th century Philadelphia.

The truth is that nobody can prove that Betsy Ross had anything to do with the first official Stars and Stripes.

She was famous for fashioning the American flag presented to George Washington in 1776 to commemorate the country’s independence from Great Britain.
