Theme
The overall theme of the book is "bravery" because Eragon has to be brave to overcome great obstacles in the story. He has to be brave when faced with losing loved ones, being alone, and traveling across the country even though he has never left home before. He also has to be brave when battling his worst enemy, Galbatorix, and all the evil creatures that are after him.
Recommendation
I recommend this book for ages 11 and up because it's complex and a very very long book ( it's a series). Even adults would like it! This is a good challenging book with action, mystery, twists and turns. You will really get attached to the characters. I give this book a five star rating ( if I could rate it ten stars, I would).
Setting
This book takes place in a magical land called Alagaesia that is inhabited by different species such as dwarfs, elves and humans. There are forests, mountains, lakes and deserts, as well as port cities on the coasts. There is no time period, but there is no electricity and you have to hunt and farm for food.
Eragon is a 15 year old boy that lives on his farm with his cousin and his uncle. Eragon is out hunting and finds this blue stone and brings it home. That night, it hatches and he finds a baby dragon! He figures out they can talk to each other through their minds and she says her name is Saphira. He feeds Saphia for a while until an old dragon rider named Brom finds them and trains them. With Brom's help, Eragon learns to fight, use magic and fly on Saphira. But, most importantly, he learns how to escape the clutches of King Galbatorix, who is an evil dragon rider that wants to control all the dragons and their riders.
2 Main Characters
Two of the main characters are Saphira and Eragon.
Saphira is Eragon's dragon and she is brave, thoughtful and cunning. She also has bright blue scales and is huge (but not at the beginning of the book) . Eragon is a 15 year old boy who is skilled at hunting and very brave. Eragon learns to ride Saphira and fight the evil king, Galbatorix, that is after him.

Eragon is a Fantasy book because it is about dragons and magic.
